Tom Crowley - Grattan Institute

Staff Profile

Tom Crowley is an Associate at Grattan Institute. In the Transport and Cities Program, he co-authored the report Fast Train Fever. In the Budgets and Government Program, he contributed to Grattan’s analysis on two rounds of federal and state budgets, and co-authored the report Women’s Work on economic outcomes for women during the COVID recession.

Tom previously worked at the Australian Treasury on a range of policy areas, including income tax, negative gearing and capital gains tax, not-for-profits regulation, and health policy.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Economics at the University of Melbourne, and was chief editor at the Economics Students Society of Australia.


How to make housing more affordable

Australia needs to make some hard choices: either people accept greater density in their suburb, or their children will not be able to buy a home, and Australia will become a less equal society.
