CEDA (the Committee for Economic Development of Australia) has selected an address by Grattan Institute’s Energy Program Director Tony Wood as one of its Top 10 speeches on energy policy over the past decade. The speech was delivered on 26th June 2017, soon after the release of Blueprint for the Future, the independent review chaired by Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Alan Finkel, into the future security of the National Electricity Market. Wood used the speech to highlight the importance of Finkel’s recommendations beyond the headline-attracting call for a Clean Energy Target. “In summary,” Wood said, “there are many things we have to deal with as we move forward, and many uncertainties. But one thing I am very sure of is that neither nostalgia nor astrology is a good way to make decisions.”
