Submission to the Higher Education Standards Panel
A quarter of a million students started university in Australia this year. The federal government has information about how well they are likely to do. But that information about their prospects of successfully completing their course are either not available to students or difficult for them to find. Worse, the information that is available to students is too broad and can mislead them. In this submission to the Higher Education Standards Panel, Grattan Institute’s Higher Education Program Director, Andrew Norton, and Fellow, Ittima Cherastidtham, call on the government to provide personalised completion prospects to students, and to publish better, more detailed information on the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) website.
